Useful Applications

Here is just a fun alphabetical list collection of various links and software that are free (unless otherwise stated) that I find to be useful. Each link has a little description as to how it is useful. Please lmk if you think something should be added

Websites:

• Annas Archive: Good for research and finding textbooks.
• archive.today: Has many archived news articles.
• ChatCrypt : No Registration E2EE chat room. Secure messaging.
• PDF24: Tired of online pdf tools bombarding with ads? PDF24 can actually do things.
• skiplagged: The best airline prices. Were sued by American Airlines. You get off at layovers, so no luggage, only backpack/carry-on. Don’t do it too much, might get banned from airlines.
• WatchCount: Weird website — Tells you how old an eBay list is and how many people are watching it. Good for figuring out how much leverage you have on a seller for best offers.
• Yandex: Good search engine for finding what you actually want. Russian based, so probably a lot of political censorship. Not a lot else though. Good for finding docks to sail from ;)

Software

• Capture 2 Text : Win Q -> OCR selcted area. Simple and no BS. Quickly get whatever is on your screen to text. Useful when not allowed to copy and paste from a site. Windows only
• Cold Turkey : Both for Mac and Windows, simple and effective blocker/time limiter. Has features such as schedules and needing to type X amount of words to unlock something. Very reasonable price for a lifetime license.
